Please review the following descriptions that Dr. Hightower explains in detail below about our various treatments.

Below is a sampling of the different chiropractic services we offer in our mobile offices.

CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT:  The typical definition of chiropractic would be….”A health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual treatments including spinal adjustment and other joint and soft-tissue manipulation.”

An academic definition of chiropractic would be… the art, science, and philosophy of the practice of chiropractic healthcare by someone who is licensed as a chiropractic physician by a State Board of Chiropractic Examiners who has spent 4 years of study at an accredited Chiropractic University.

A more neurological definition of chiropractic would be a form of healthcare treatment that involves the manual or ‘instrumental’ movement of joints of the body (and soft tissues) to ultimately affect the nervous system (the brain, spinal cord, and nerves) to regain and/or improve joint motion and/or spinal alignment of the 33 vertebral bones of the spinal column.

By regaining and/or improving spinal joint subluxations (fixations) through a hands-on treatment called, The Chiropractic Adjustment,  nerve pain in the form of nerve compression (pinching) and/or nerve irritations (inflammation) are reduce and removed,  thereby eliminating the ‘pain-signals’ to the brain, allowing pain to remit and the person’s quality of life to be regained.

Painful bulging discs (aka. slipped discs) can also be greatly improved and allowed to heal through chiropractic treatments and through computerized decompression therapy sessions.

CHIROPRACTIC EXAMINATION:  The typical definition of an examination would be….”the act of looking at something closely and carefully: the act of examining something. : a close and careful study of someone or something to find signs of illness or injury”.

A more neurological definition of an examination would be the provocative systemized patient positions or patient movements and/or instrumental measurement responses to testing the integrity of a single nerve, group of nerves, brain injury involvement, vascular involvement, organ system involvement, intervertebral disc involvement, ligament involvement, tendon involvement, muscle involvement, or structural bone involvement.

A thorough patient examination is THE most key component to correctly treating any patient that has any health symptom complaint, especially with a musculoskeletal pain complaint.

A well-done examination doesn’t have to necessarily take long periods of time when performed by a seasoned doctor of chiropractic.  The years of clinical experience of the chiropractor who has examined thousands of patients can usually provide a relatively quick and correct diagnosis when truthful subjective patient health information is provided accurately by the patient to the examining chiropractor.

In other words, a thorough chiropractic examination is the ‘map’ of what to do?… why you’re going to do it?… and what other diagnostic testing will be required or necessary to advance the patient health outcomes?

Written Opinion Letter Description Video from Lance Hightower on Vimeo.

WRITTEN OPINION LETTER:  A written opinion letter by the doctor may allow, deny, limit, reduce, continue, or add to a patient’s current state of health or condition for the benefit and wellbeing of the patient.  This written opinion letter involves the doctor’s years of practice experience and medical certainty in making a clinical judgment and/or opinion as the veracity of maximum patient healing with as little exacerbation as possible.

Vertigo Treatment

VERTIGO TREATMENT:  The clinical definition of vertigo is…”The sensation of motion which is associated with various disorders (as of the inner ear) and in which the individual or the individual’s surroundings seem to whirl dizzily.”

The whirling sensation of being dizzy or the feeling of being lightheaded is quite different than experiencing the sickening sensation of vertigo.  With vertigo, the patient experiences a nauseated sensation of violent spinning that is initiated by either quick movements of the head, whether slight side to side or up and down motions, or with slight or quick movements of the person’s whole body.

One of the most common states of vertigo is called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) which can be brought about by…infections, nerve inflammation, ear surgery complications, medication side effects, and more.  BPPV can be days to long episodes of weeks of mild to intense spinning sensation.

This type of vertigo should be thoroughly evaluated and examined to rule-out any other type of illnesses or organic disease states that might be an onset to other types of primary illnesses or disease states such as; brain injury, medication reactions, and in rare circumstances, brain lesions or masses.

Once determined that someone has BPPV, a technique called Epley maneuver can be performed by a knowledgeable doctor of chiropractic giving a great deal of relief to the sufferer of this type of vertigo.

Dr. Hightower has not only perfected this treatment technique but has built-upon this technique and has developed his own technique that is highly successful in eliminating BPPV within 1 to 3 treatments.

PREGNANCY WEBSTER TECHNIQUE: A chiropractic adjustment called the Webster Technique is a specific sacral adjustment to help facilitate the mother’s pelvic alignment and nerve system function. This in turn balances pelvic muscles and ligaments, reduces torsion to the uterus allowing the baby to self-rotate into the vertex position while still in utero, which is the most desirable position of the baby for delivery instead of a breech (foot first) delivery.

This is Webster Technique has been performed by Dr. Hightower over the years to numerous expecting mothers during their last trimester if the mother recognizes that her baby’s head isn’t in the vertex position close to her delivery date.

This technique is extremely gentle to both the mother and baby, which is quite different from the aggressive manual-rotation performed by hospital staff and typically leads to a Cesarean section (C-section) surgery 100% of the time in delivery of the baby.  Whereas, a certified chiropractor in the Webster Technique uses only gentle touches and light sacral pressure to the mother and does not place any manual heavy pressures to the baby whatsoever and is 99.99% safe to both mother and baby in utero.  Dr. Hightower is certified in the Webster Technique and has a Fellowship in Chiropractic Pediatrics from Parker College of Chiropractic.

NECK (Cervical) TRACTION THERAPY:  Spinal traction non-surgical form of decompression therapy that gently relieves/removes pressure on the spinal nerves, joints, and discs. It can be performed manually or mechanically (computerized decompression tables). Spinal traction is used to treat herniated discs both at the neck & lower back, sciatica, degenerative disc disease (aka. Osteoarthritis), pinched nerves, and many other back conditions.

Dr. Hightower has 20+ years of clinical experience and tremendous success in treating many patient’s with the above symptoms on his traction decompression therapy table, and has the only Mobile Clinic on wheels to provide disc decompression therapy to anyone and anywhere in the state.  Unfortunately, there are thousands folks with failed neck and back surgeries who continue to suffer with pain on a daily basis, and they require heavy dosages of pain medication to get them through each day.  Their “doctors” have told them that there are no other surgeries that can be done for them, with only pain meds being the answer….wrong!  Although, each patient is unique in their own findings, Dr. Lance can individually assess your condition to see if you would be a candidate for neck or lower back decompression therapy to gain pain-relief and get back to doing what you enjoy most!

LOWER (Lumbar) BACK TRACTION THERAPY: Spinal traction non-surgical form of decompression therapy that gently relieves/removes pressure on the spinal nerves, joints, and discs. It can be performed manually or mechanically (computerized decompression tables). Spinal traction is used to treat herniated discs both at the neck & lower back, sciatica, degenerative disc disease (aka. osteoarthritis), pinched nerves, and many other back conditions.
